Publication Ethics Statement

The Indonesian Journal of Impactful Community Service (IJICoS), published by CV. Literasi Indonesia, is a peer-reviewed and open access journal committed to maintaining the highest standards of publication ethics. The journal takes all reasonable measures to prevent publication malpractice and promotes integrity, transparency, fairness, and accountability throughout the editorial and publishing process.

This publication ethics statement applies to all parties involved in the publication process, including authors, editors, reviewers, editorial board members, and the publisher. The journal follows the principles and recommendations of the Committee on Publication Ethics (COPE) Best Practice Guidelines and encourages responsible research and ethical scholarly communication.

Duties of Authors

1. Reporting Standards

Authors must present an accurate, objective, and complete description of their work. Sufficient detail should be provided to enable others to understand and replicate the study. Fabrication, falsification, or knowingly inaccurate statements are considered unethical.

2. Data Access and Retention

Authors should retain research data and provide access to editors when requested. Data should be preserved for an appropriate period following publication.

3. Originality and Plagiarism

Submitted manuscripts must be original works. Any use of ideas, text, figures, or data from other sources must be appropriately cited. Plagiarism in any form is unacceptable.

4. Multiple Submission

Authors must not submit the same manuscript simultaneously to multiple journals or publish substantially similar work in more than one publication.

5. Acknowledgement of Sources

All relevant publications and sources that influenced the work should be appropriately acknowledged through proper citation.

6. Authorship

Only individuals who have made significant scholarly contributions should be listed as authors. All authors must approve the final manuscript before submission.

7. Conflict of Interest

Authors must disclose any financial, institutional, or personal relationships that could influence the interpretation of the research findings.

8. Correction of Errors

If authors discover significant errors after publication, they must immediately notify the Editor and cooperate in issuing corrections or retractions when necessary.

9. Human, Animal, and Environmental Ethics

Research involving humans, animals, hazardous materials, or sensitive environmental issues must comply with applicable ethical standards and legal regulations.

Duties of Editors

Editors play a central role in maintaining the quality, integrity, and credibility of the journal. Editorial decisions are made independently and solely on the basis of scholarly merit, originality, ethical compliance, and relevance to the journal's aims and scope.

1. Fair Play

Editors evaluate submitted manuscripts solely on their academic quality, originality, scientific contribution, and relevance to the journal. Editorial decisions are made without discrimination based on race, gender, nationality, religion, institutional affiliation, or political beliefs.

2. Confidentiality

Editors and editorial staff must treat all submitted manuscripts as confidential documents. Information regarding a submission must not be disclosed to anyone other than the corresponding author, reviewers, editorial advisers, or the publisher when necessary.

3. Conflicts of Interest

Editors must not use unpublished information obtained during the editorial process for their own research or personal benefit. Any potential conflict of interest should be disclosed and managed appropriately.

4. Publication Decisions

The Editor-in-Chief has full responsibility for deciding whether a manuscript should be accepted, revised, or rejected. Editorial decisions are based on reviewers' recommendations, editorial policies, legal requirements, and the overall quality of the manuscript.

5. Peer Review Management

Editors ensure that every manuscript undergoes a fair, timely, and objective double-blind peer-review process by selecting qualified reviewers with relevant expertise while avoiding conflicts of interest.

Duties of Reviewers

Peer reviewers contribute significantly to maintaining the scientific quality of the journal. Reviews should be objective, constructive, confidential, and completed within the agreed review period.

1. Contribution to Editorial Decisions

Reviewers provide independent expert evaluations that assist editors in making editorial decisions and help authors improve the quality of their manuscripts.

2. Promptness

Reviewers who are unable to complete a review within the requested timeframe or who lack appropriate expertise should promptly inform the editor so another reviewer may be assigned.

3. Objectivity

Reviews should be conducted fairly, objectively, and constructively. Personal criticism of authors is inappropriate. Comments should be supported by clear scientific arguments.

4. Confidentiality

Manuscripts received for review are confidential documents and must not be shared, discussed, or used for personal advantage without explicit authorization from the Editor.

5. Conflict of Interest

Reviewers should decline invitations if any personal, professional, financial, or institutional conflict of interest could influence their evaluation of the manuscript.

6. Acknowledgement of Sources

Reviewers should identify relevant literature that has not been cited by the authors and notify the Editor of any substantial similarity between the submitted manuscript and previously published works.

Publisher Responsibilities

The Publisher is committed to maintaining the integrity of the scholarly record by supporting ethical editorial practices, ensuring editorial independence, and providing adequate resources for the publication process. The Publisher does not interfere with editorial decisions and works closely with the Editorial Board to uphold the principles established by the Committee on Publication Ethics (COPE).

Research Misconduct

IJICoS takes all forms of publication misconduct seriously. Any allegation of unethical behavior will be investigated carefully in accordance with COPE recommendations. Proven misconduct may result in rejection, correction, retraction, or notification to the relevant institution.

Plagiarism

Copying another person's work without appropriate acknowledgment.

Data Fabrication

Inventing research data or reporting results that never existed.

Data Falsification

Manipulating research methods, images, or data to obtain misleading conclusions.

Duplicate Publication

Publishing substantially the same manuscript in multiple journals without disclosure.

Corrections, Retractions, and Expressions of Concern

If significant errors or ethical concerns are identified after publication, the journal may publish a correction, issue an expression of concern, or retract the article when necessary. Such actions will follow COPE recommendations and will be clearly linked to the original publication.

Conflict of Interest

Authors, reviewers, and editors are required to disclose any financial, institutional, professional, or personal relationships that could influence the editorial process or interpretation of research findings. When a conflict exists, appropriate management procedures will be implemented to ensure an impartial editorial decision.

Data Availability

Authors are encouraged to preserve original research data and make supporting datasets available whenever possible. Editors may request access to research data during the review process to verify the validity of reported findings.

Artificial Intelligence (AI) Policy

Artificial Intelligence (AI) tools may be used to improve language quality, grammar, or readability. However, AI systems cannot be listed as authors because they cannot take responsibility for the integrity, originality, or accuracy of scholarly work.

Authors remain fully responsible for all submitted content.
AI-generated text, images, or data should be carefully reviewed and verified.
Authors should disclose significant use of AI-assisted writing tools where appropriate.

Complaints and Appeals

The journal welcomes appeals regarding editorial decisions and complaints concerning publication ethics. All appeals are reviewed objectively by the Editor-in-Chief or an independent Editorial Board member. Decisions are based on documented evidence and ethical publishing standards.
